    It usually something with the exhaust or a leak somewhere that will prevent a smog pass. Are you throwing a CEL? We can try to figure it out.

    if your car still runs fine you dont need a new motor... as mack said, smog fail is usually something in the exhaust area...if you still have your original O2 sensors usually those go bad over time, both of mine just went bad early this year, replaced them and passed smog fine.

    and i speak of experience, i have my original 1ZZ with tranny at 226xxx miles

    sounds bad, well Pick-n-pull is having a 25% off all motors the 20th - 26th....if i was you i would pony up one now...

    from what ive experienced they are ok. you just have to look at the car and tell what type of driver was using it before...

    someone who took care of it, old lady, teen, etc...

    wanna buy my vvt-i 1ZZ? it has 226k, comes with a spare harness and 8th gen ecu LOL i still have not used my 9th gen 1ZZ

    Check your spark plugs and make sure they are not loose. I had a loose spark plug once that sounded like a Rod knock.

    i was just being sarcastic cuz of the high millage...:rolleyes:

    i dont think you want it, check NEWCELICA.ORG there is this one guy selling a 1ZZ from a gt with ecu in sac...dont know the price tho
