    Forum Downtime...

    The hard drive on the server decided to throw a fit and cause a system error which shut everything down. We've repaired the drive temporarily and Vortex is in the process of shopping for a new one. It was brought to my attention only a few minutes after the site stopped working and we got to working on it asap.

    Sorry for the inconvenience. :cool:

    heh... yeah friggin thing...

    the tech side:

    apparently some wierd stuff was going on (not too terribly out of the ordinary) and it caused swap space utilization to expand. During this process the system ran into two bad sector blocks on the hard drive and decided it would just sit there and complain over and over again about it rather than kernel panic and just reboot. I got the drive cleaned up and the bad sectors marked for non-usage, however as CB said, I'll need to be shopping for a new drive.

    With that said, we *will* be having a scheduled maint. window which will have the server down for about 4 hours sometime in the next few weeks. :)
