For those of you who may be able to help:

I have a 1999 Corolla. Recently, my front end has started making a nasty noise. The noise does not appear until you exceed about 40mph and it is consistent in RPM with the tire, not engine. Its a knocking noise that you can not only hear, but feel if you place your foot on the floorboard while driving. It does not change when you turn in any direction. It is consistent in nature, and is not irregular in knocking. The car has 198,000 miles on it. If you all could offer some guidance, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Please excuse my noobish question, but what is Cvr?

CV joints? the things that holds the wheels in place too could be

I am not techy but sound like ball bearings...

most shops will check it for free cause they want ur business.

Ah ok. So ball bearings and maybe a CV joint? If it was the CV joint, wouldnt there be visible fluid marks nearby that indicate that it is broken or leaking? Also, if it were the CV joint, wouldnt you hear a clicking noise when you turn the wheel? A couple other people said it might be ball bearings also.

Also, I thank you all for your help with this. I am taking it to a licensed mechanic this weekend for him to check out the wheel bearings, hub, and CV joints. Thanks again guys!
