    header wrap warning

well, some of you know that ive installed header (exhaust) wrap ( i thought it was a brilliant idea at the time-cooler temps under hood, faster moving exhaust flow) but the bad things outweigh the good things... first off, i already posted this on corolla-racing.com http://www.corolla-racing.com/scrip...;num=1090735531 but basically, i found out that im doing alot more damage to my header with the wrap on than i would like..basically, the heat cannot dissipate quickly enough from the tubes, therefore causing distortions and possible cracking...not only that, but it destroyes your warranty... here's some good info http://www.centuryperformance.com/heatwraps.asp i pulled the wrap off, and luckily, nothing bad has happened...( i only had it on 2months), everything seemed to be fine (of course it doesnt look new anymore-all scratched up and some rusty blotches) but everything is good...i got lucky...

Maybe if you add exhaust wrap to a stainless steel header it would be less likely to crack. What kind of material is your header made out of?

its ceramic coated....it boils down to the size "guage" of the material..i believe 16 guage, which is really heavy duty, works the best...but smaller guages like 18 seems to be more prone to problems.. heres mine http://www.meganracing.com/products....asp?prodid=145 its a great header quality wise, but im almost positive it cant take the wrap too long...
