56K-Engine Teardown Day

So we finally got started doing at least something with the engine....like 3 weeks ago, we took the valve cover off and since then we didnt do anything...so today, we got a little more out before it became too hot out....intake manifold came out today...i guess next week, the engine and tranny will be next...i got some snaps of the beast while i still could...

N what a beating ive given this motor...







The valves....there was a pocket of oil that leaked onto some of the valves when we lifted it out....

wow...DIRTY!

oh yea, once i pull out the block n tranny, im gonna get in there n clean it all out....then when the new engine comes in, ill start on that one...

OH BABY! Nothing like a new engine.

yup....a clean start to everything...cuz im sure if we just fix the engine, the tranny will just die the next week or so...

and chrome everything out to look nice.

man the inside of that thing looks nasty.

looks almost like my 63 alpine when I oppend her up after 13 years of being under a pile of hay... not that the hay has anything to do with it just how my dad drove it before...

hehe, geez guys, all these comments just heavily motivated me to make it a point to clean the engine, lol.....hopefully, if things go right, the engine work will only be a small spec of things to come...
