    Hub / driveaxle nut size

I was in the process of replacing my front driver side hub and hub bearings. I can't get past the hub nut, seeing as how I don't have a socket that big...anyone know how big it is?

    ahhh...thank you

    Ok...new question...

Exactly how much torque do you need to put on the hub nut??? I'm using an impact 30mm socket on a solid 1/2" socket 15" breaker bar w/ a 1/2" pipe reducer elbowed to a 4 foot long 3/4" pipe...

I put my entire body weight (160lbs) into it and still couldn't get it to budge. I swear I was about to move my car before I'd get that nut to go.

it's around 210-220 ft lbs of torque - it's frigging insane! ask deebstundra about when i broke a breaker bar taking a set off one time, lol

what i do is take off the wheels off to get the cotter pin and castle thing off then put the wheels back on, drop it back on the ground and take my 2ft long breaker bar to it to break it lose. That way I could avoid having to stop the hub from turning using a pry bar. I damn near dropped the car off my jackstands last time I tried to take off the axle nut while the car is in the air.

That's what I tried to do. I had the car down on all four wheels; e-brake up and in 2nd gear. I have TRD rims, so I took the center cap off, removed the pin and the castleated what-not, and started cranking away. I swear I must have moved the car forward a couple millimeters before giving up for the night.

However, I have to put this project on hold now. I came out from work to go home yesterday only to find that someone had hit that back driver's side panel of my car while pulling out of the parking spot next to me. So I won't be able to do anything until I get the car back from the body shop.
