Advantages of Headers V.S Stock Manifold ??

My 93 rolla has come across a hole in the down pipe recently . I have priced the down pipe and they run about $120 bucks even on E-bay . But I came across Stainless Steel Headers with a down pipe for about $80 Dollars .

I dont intend on boosting my motor or shaving the heads or making any kind of performance to it .

I know people say headers run underneath hot .

My question is " What would be the Advantage or Disadvantage if I go with the headers compared to Just leaving it Stock ??

might be a little raspy...mine was raspy when i installed it. i think it mostly increases power at high rpms because it creates a vacuum i think?

uhmmm think like when your sick and you cant talk very well...ill make a video....its basically just the sound of the air passing through the manifold and it makes it sound different.

its not bad once the car is warmed up. you will also get "ricer pop" i tink but the perfomance benefits are worth it imo.

I think better air flow also is another reason for more high rpm powder.

damn it i was going to say that. lol.

advantage of changing out header and downpipe is you will get better air flow as long as you don't make the pipe too large which can result in better performance but better yet, better gas mileage. Downside is it can definitely get hotter and worst case scenario = trunk goes into flames. lol. actually everyone i know who have changed out their header who also like to drive at high rpm's a lot have had problems with the header a lot, whether the header cracks or the gaskets or flanges warp and leak, etc which can cause a lot of headaches.

bottom line IMO its not much worth it, corolla unless turbod is gonna be slow... 5HP that you will get at most with it not really worth the headache like drunksaru said.

those cheap noname headers suck anyways. Everyone say the flex pipe start leaking after a while. best to get a replacement OEM downpipe or just get the hole welded up.

i know i said this before but did you guys ever think of porting your stock header for cheap vs buying expensive no good results header!? porting the stock header would be my first option.

errrr...I don't know about your car specifically but if your header is welded on as opposed to bolts and nuts, and wrapped with header wrap, it's dyno proven to give you 10 hp and some torque(can't remember how much).

I mean, if you haven't personally done this and all the information you have is she said, he said that she said, you shouldn't really discourage others no?
