Canadien(ne)s... Do you have ECE Headlamps?

I'm wondering if all of you Canadien(ne)s have DOT headlamps or ECE (E-Code) headlamps... I'm looking to purchase a set of ECE headlamps...

    Bummer!!!

I was hoping that Canada had different lighting laws than the relaxed SAE/DOT in the US... my search continues...

    Stinky,

Do you know if the Corolla/Altis is exported (from Japan, with left-hand drive) to Germany?

do you mean the real japanese corolla? Or do you mean the altis that looks like our rolla? I would guess that it would be built with whatever hand drive they use. I thought germany and all europe used right hand drive? But I cant say for sure. You got soemthing I dont know.

I will also double double check to be sure ours say "DOT" but I am pretty sure. They dont usually make 2 diff cars for North American market. In fact, Canada has the stricter safety laws so they build it to Canada's standards and then sell the same car to you guys. That way they save on costs. Which is also why DRL's is NOT a law in the US but it is up here, so you guys are stuck with them as well. Its just the stupid california emissions laws that screw us over. Coz they tune them to pass those as well. In the old days late 80's and early 90's a lot of car makers where making 2 cars. One for you guys, more specifically California, and one for Canada.

We also got some Japanese cars that you guys didnt. I suspect that was beacuse they liked uys better than you guys, plus we sent them a lot of our old wood for them to use for building stuff.

Well, Stinky I agree with you on the Japanese liking Canada more (at least in the auto market)... I was in Toronto a few years ago and Vancouver last summer and saw that Honda (Acura) had an upscale Civic (same body, but more options) branded as an Acura EL. I'm sure there are other cars as well.

As far as right-hand drive... I think the UK, NZ, Aussies, Japan, Bahamas and a few other British colonized countries use right-hand drive. The rest of the world drives on the correct side of the road with left-hand drive vehicles.

And I didn't realize that there was a difference between the "real" Japanese Corolla and the export Altis. Aren't they the same car, except the Japanese built, right-hand drive (for the Japanese market) is branded as a Corolla and the left-hand drive, export model, is branded as an Altis? In any case, isn't the Altis imported in Europe (which is identical in body and design to the N American Corolla)?

I guess I'm hoping to find ECE compliant headlamps (the best would be e1's from Germany since they have the strictest lighting laws in the world) from an Altis (left-hand drive only models) that will drop in as exact replacements for my DOT headlamps.

    Please explain the differences.

the japanese corolla looks like the Aussie one. The headlights are different as is the whole car basically, its built on a different platform. If the ones going to germany look like ours then I would say you will have no porblem dropping their headlights into your car.

Here is a pic of the japanese corolla though

I just found this as well. Its a vibe. So I guess Pontiac didnt even change anything they just switched it right over to RHD and sold it with their badge. Here I thought they did a better job of making the matrix look good. But it was still Toyota all along.
