    disadvantages of taking off mudflaps?

Wanting to take them off for the look, and also gonna be lowering soon so I don't want to scrape. Are there any drawbacks of doing this?

Are you talking about mudflaps that attach to the rear of the wheelwell? Or are you talking about the plastic splashguards inside the whellwhell? If you're talking about the latter, I highly recommend you leave them there for a ton of reasons, the least of which is you'll end up with a dirty engine bay.

Take off the splashguards and water can get into your lights, your CAI if you have one installed, and other parts of the engine where water and other debris don't belong. Plus, as I said, dirt will get into the engine bay.

If you don't want rub after lowering, just be mindful of what spring set you get as well as what tires/rims you run. I'm on Tein S-Tech (2.3 front/2.4 rear drop) and 17" wheels with 215/40/17 tires. I've had no rub whatsoever, but I drive super-careful over bumps and dips, and don't do any hard cornering.

I was talking about the mudflaps, the black flaps that hang off the bottom of the car on the back of each wheel well. Were you saying that it was bad to remove those or the splash guards or both?

The mudflaps (pieces that hang past the bottom) should be fine to remove. I thought you were talking about the splashguards inside the wheelwell. Those you shouldn't remove.

funny enough here in l.a. ca if ur tires stick out u must have those mud guards/flap
if the cops really wants to be anal about it

only disadvantage i can think of is is tar build up on ur paintjob if it matters

no!!! if you have the S, you need those sideskirts and add-ons on there! if you have the LE or CE...you need those mudflaps(guards) too!!! trust me!! youre car will get hella dirty hella quick!! trust me! cuz i dont have a side skirt on my driver side right now...and it's dirty as hell. so im thinking if you had an LE/CE...if you dont have the mudflaps...it would do the same. i say don't do it bro... leave 'em on...

aww too late...I guess we'll see...it's nice weather now anyway
I'll probably end up putting them back on when the weather gets a little more crappy.

The mudguards on the front wheels do help to prevent the rocker panels from getting sand blasted by small rocks thrown up by the front tires.
