    Gas pedal, cable or electronic?

I have a 2003 Corolla S, 5 speed, for some reason when I am driving in the high way at 100- 120,00 KM/Hr, when I put the car in neutral the RPMs do not go down. They stay up at 3,000 or so until the car slows down.

This is probably not recommended but when I am to exit on the highway I just put the car in neutral until I have to stop at the traffic light. When the car is in neutral but still traveling at 100km or so the RPM’s do not go down. I have another car, a Sentra 5 speed and this does not happen.

    Any suggestions?

    i believe the 03+ are drive-by-wire...a.k.a. electronic.

Since drive by wire is still relatively new, I'm assuming there are still kinks to be smoothed out. I'm going to stick with the traditional cable throttle until it's bulletproof.

03, 04 are throttle cable, 05+ are dbw. Just look at your throttle body for a throttle cable to confirm.

The revs are normal when you are coasting at that speed. And yes, the 05 and above Corollas have drive by wire throttles. The 05 MRS also has the drive by wire, if I'm not mistaken.
