    2 ways of doing this....

first, you can find somewhere behind thhe unit where you can bolt it to.... look for a bare peice of metal with a bolt already running through it. Loosen the bolt, connect the ground wire to it, then tighten the bolt.

Second, you can do what I did and just splice into the original ground wire then voila... you're grounded....

Thanks!!! I will try finding a bolt first. Otherwise I will splice to adapter's ground (I assume this goes to somewhere Toyota has chosen to be ground).

I have a next question. The adapter bag says Toyota 1987 and up, but when I took off the factory cables from the factory radio, the smaller connector (with four wires) has colors yellow (two wires), red and black. In my aftermarket AND adapter, these colors are the battery and ground connections. However the smaller connector (with four wires) on the adapter goes to my rear speakers. I am scared to plug my adapter into the factory plugs. Is their color codes the same as ours? I would think it would be, but apparently its not. Is this common?

    Thanks for your help.

I looked at your website, and saw that on the sixth page it has Typical Toyta In Dash Wire Color and New Radio Color. They are indeed different and this relieves me quite a bit. :)

    I appreciate the help, thanks!

Grond wire on my aftermarket head unit

    Hi.

I got a wiring harness for my aftermarket head unit to connect to my factory wiring harness, and it has the black ground wire. My aftermarket wiring harness, though, has the ground wire terminated with the U shaped metal clip that I put under a screw.

What do I do with the wiring harness adapter's ground wire? Leave it? And just take the aftermarket wiring harness's ground and just screw it down somewhere?

    Thanks for your help.
