"Best"? The "best" would be to have a custom retrofit done to your OEM headlamps, such as DistantXtremes conversion (with S2k projectors). That would give you the best output and light distribution.

Speaking of HID's, what is it exactly? Isn't that like high beams? "High Intensity Discharge" right? or high beams? All I know is that it's pretty popular right now. A lot of the car manufacturers are coming out with cars equipped with HID, stock.

HID headlamps work very similar to a Mercury/Sodium Vapor Light or Fluorescent Tube.

    Read all about HID's here.

That was very interesting reading. Basically, if we were to install it on our Corolla, it's not just a simple bulb replacement (ie. silverstar, hyper-white bulbs), but you'll need the whole assembly that can produce that bright effect using less energy in conjunction with a built-in controller to the headlamp (to generate that power quickly) in powering the Xenon lamp.

The article is saying that you get brighter results using less energy? If that's the case, then we all benefit from them. The example they used was the florescent light bulb, so I guess I can relate to that.

That would be correct. A HID capsule uses about 35w to produce 3200-3400 lumens of light. A 9006 bulb uses 55-60w to produce 1000-1200 lumens of light. The primary difference between halogen bulbs and HID, is HID does not rely on a filament to produce light
