How much can rola take it?

I was just wondering how much wat can a rolla Battery take before it is just way to much and u just to get new battery for the subs and like the adiou system. Cause i know this guy who put subs in his cars and they are sooo like powerful that his battery can't support his front speakers so like they stoped working and like BEST buy told him that he can get another Battery and install it in his trunk but it's like too much of a mess and it just gay.

I'm planing to get 2 subs 500 watt rms each, 1000 peak each. I will have 2 500 rms amps and 1 other amp for my speaker...did I need a second battery ???

wow dimming off a 400 watts rms amp is unheard of, what size guage wire are u running? what kinda farad cap do u have and was it charged prior to using?

dimming from 400 watts rms is not unheard of at all.. My amp pushes 1500 watts at 1 ohm.. but i have it at running my sub at 4 ohms since its 2 ohm dvc's are in series. Its probably about close to 500 watts rms @ 4 ohms, and it dimms a fair amount.. But if you think about it.. 400-500 watts can be pulling over 50 amps at max peaks, especially if the amp isnt very efficient.. if your alternator can only push 70 amps max, and you got your headlights, power steering, fans, etc all pulling juice, you can easily get dimming.. I could be wrong, but i believe i've heard in most car audio forums, that adding a second battery isnt a good solution to that problem.. unless the battery is not wired to the same electrical system everything else is.. because then the alternator has two batteries to charge, thus creating more strain on the alternator, which is the major source of power while the car is runnign.. an extra battery will just let you listen longer with the car off.. And if its not hooked up to the alternator, then it wont last that long.. and you'll have to get a battery charger and be charging it all the time.

well my amp is a class d monoaural amp, so it should be pretty efficient... thats assuming that my knowledge of amps is fairly accurate.

also thanks for pointing out my error... i guess i misspelled grammar not paying attention :D

yeah class d amps are usually more efficient.. they are specifically for subs and only reproduce low end frequencies accurately, thats why you never find class d full range amps.. I beleive they are int he range of 60-80 % efficient.. For subs i think they are the best way to go.. I'd be willing to bet in a blind test you couldnt tell the difference on subs between a class D , A, B, AB, or T.

I have 2 gauge wire and Im runnning an 800 audio fonix amp and 2 quake 12 speakers. they are running at 500 watts each. I blew out the plexiglass window in the sub box!

Eep! Lots of false info going around here.

Basics of the car electrical system: the alternator provides the electrical components in the car with a certain amount of amps (current). Whenever the alternator needs a little extra, it goes to the batteries.

Caps are nice for the quick bass note here and there, but its more like a band aid for a huge wound... it helps out a bit but never solves the problem. The cap generally adds a decent amount of resistance to the system, therefore lowering the amount of power the amp sees... etc etc

The best upgrade for a car audio system power-wise is an alternator. To find out how big of an alt. you need, add up the numbers on the fuses of all of the audio equipment you have. Add that onto the stock alt amperage output... viola! There are 200+ high output alternators out there that go for around $400.

Oh yea, another thing about batteries: they're also useful if you do competitions or something else where the engine is off for a decent amount of time. Otherwise, another battery is generally not needed.
