    I CAN NOT AFFORD INSURENCE!

    HI Guys

I got some bad news I may have to sell my Rolla, because I can not afford the insurence.
I used pay $460 per month (which is prettey high) now after a accident I got to pay $644..
I still feel accident was not my fault, because I tried to avoid the accident on highway 400 on Barrie. ONTARIO. CANADA near Dunlop I was on far right lane travaling about 60 km/h because the road was packed with cars and weather was wet and cold. The car front of me sunddly stoping so I hit the break but I realized the road was wet, and I was skidding so I looked on the middle lane no body were there so I cut it in and soon as I got into the lane i press the gas pedal but BOOOM the big SUV rear ended me and hit the minivan on far left lane. BUT on the police report says I hit the SUV and that cause SUV to hit the minivan. The insurence company took police report as their offical report. If there is anyone knows how to correct the police accident report or any information to keeping the insurece rate down or saw the accident on November 28. 2003 aroud 7:15pm please let me know. your help will be greatly appcialted.

if you're sure your innocent in this case, you should get a lawyer to defend you.

Were you charged with anything? If so, the first step is to make sure you're not found guilty - a good lawyer can help with this (not Xcopper or any of those places). You will also have to come up with a better story - from what you described above you could be guilty of any or all of the following: following too closely, careless driving and making an unsafe lane change...

If you're found guilty of an offence, there's nothing you can do to prevent your insurance rates from going up. If you're not guilty of an offence you'll still have a battle with the insurance company. If in their opinion you were even only 1% to blame for the accident, it will be judged to be an at fault collision and your rates will be affected.

I assume this is not your first accident - most reputable insurance companies in Ontario will allow one "free accident" before your rates are affected.

If you want to fight a ticket and you are a CAA member, let me know. There's a CAA legal advisor in Toronto that I use that does a pretty good job. He's not cheap, but nothing worthwhile ever is.

$460 a month for insurance is unheard of. I thought it was a 6-month premuim at first, but man, you are definitely overpaying. I pay just $97 a month for full premuim coverage through Liberty Mutual Auto Insurance.

    I CAN NOT AFFORD INSURENCE!

    Hi

    Thanks guys for support.

The reason why I was paying $460/ month is, I had 1 speeding ticket and brand new car and my age(22 years old), but after the the accident my insurece will go $560/ month so I am thinking about trading my Rolla for used car like 1997 or 1998 Honda Accord, because my insurece agent told me used midsize car will bring down the rate. Anyhow about the accident, I was not charge with anything according to police report but after long talk with insurece agent, I can not be found innocent because I was making unsafe lane change. So I guess this is good bye to you MY FRIENDS!!!!!!
IT HAS BEEN HELL OF ROLLA RIDE.

    THANKS. PAUL

PS. When insurece rate goes down I will be back with ROLLA.
