    Mountain Dew Incident

Ok, so Im coming down the road and i come up to a light (its green) but a lady pulls out in front of me as i approacht the intersection doing about 45, so i slam on the brakes and nothing happens ACCEPT for the fact that i had just come from 7-11 and had refilled my Super Gulp, which was in the cupholder, unfortunately since it has such a high center of gravity it fell forward spilling all over the gear changer (automatic) i freaked out, and used a towel to mop up what was there, and everything seemed fine. Until about yesterday when i change from park to drive, or vice versa, the shifter makes a cracking noise from the mountain dew being "unsticked" from the underside of the litttle plastic piece (the black one thats at the base of the actual shifter, the one with the lines on it that moves as you shift) seems to have sticky mountain dew attatching itself to the shifter causing it to be a little more difficult to shift, in additon to making a horrible sound that makes it seem like i have a cheap shifter. Can somebody please help me to solve this problem? do i have to go to the dealership to have them "unsticky" my shifter.

Figure out how to pull the shifter knob off, then slide that plastic seround out. That should giv eyou access to the plastic "sticky" peice. Then a little water and cloth should clean it out fine

Pull out the shifter cover and unscrew the center divider. You should get access to the shifter. Use alcohol and if you need to, use a little bit of oil when your done.
