More information needed I'm afraid. What amplifier are you using for the subs? How have you connected up the system? I can't find any info on the deh 6400 on the web - it's not a current model.

what do u mean, how? rca and remote to deck. power to battery, ground to some metal thing in my trunk, and speaker cables to my subs. nothing special.

my amp is solely for my subs. not for any interior speakers

When you select Front + S/W as your output control, are you sure there's nothing coming out of your rear speakers? Try disconnecting your subs and listen very closely. I'll bet that your rear speakers are getting the sub output only.

NO NO NO NO NO, I have heard of this before. I am sory that I cant be much help but this is a common issue with that deck. I forget how you fix this problem. All I remember is that you have to go through the menu on the deck and choose a different setting for the sub output. Read the instruction manuel, it is in there. It has nothing to do with the way that it is wired.
