New amp and wires installation recommandation?

I am doing some accessories shopping online for installing the new amp. I'd like to hear any suggestion from you guys who had put one or more amp on rolla, so I won't buy the wrong parts and waste money. Thanks in advance :p

the amp has 60w (RMS) x 4, and it's gonna push two front speakers and two rear ones. My questions are,

    1. Where is the idealest place to put the amp in this case? Under the passenger seat or the truck?

    2. The gauge of power cable? I am thinking about 8 should be sufficient.

    3. The length of the RCA cable I need?

    4. The guage and length of the speaker wire?

Put it in the trunk. You need airflow around the amp.

    2. The gauge of power cable? I am thinking about 8 should be sufficient.

8 should be fine, unless you want to add a sub later. If you think you might want to, go with 4 gage.

    3. The length of the RCA cable I need?

15 feet should be long enough - depends on where in the trunk you put the amp.

    4. The guage and length of the speaker wire?

14 will do, 12 would be a bit better. 40 feet total should be enough.

    Thanks!!

Now I got one more problem today while I actaully tried to install the wire. Hopefully it'll be the last problem.. :D

I found there's a plug like this. The blue/green is for the speaker, and the rest should be controlling the mirror.

    My question is,

    1. Should I connect the new speaker wire from here with the plug.

    2. Or go all the way thru the door rubber grommet? It will be much difficult this way though.

It's better to fish the wires through the door grommet if you can. You may need to use smaller gage wire for that part.

Are you using the amp with your stock speakers?

Are the pictures shown properly now? Let me know if they are ok now.

Yes I am still using the stock tweeter along with the new coaxial Infinity speakers, and will install an amp next week. (60watt each channel). Should I remove the stock tweeter since new front has provided sufficient treble? but I think those tweeter might give better staging because of their location?

Pictures still aren't showing, but they're easy enough to get at.

You'll blow the stock tweeters if you hook up a 60 W amp. Your best bet is to wire four 5 Watt 1 ohm resistors in series with the tweeters and add another capacitor in parallel with the existing one (of the same capacitance). That will cut the power your tweeter sees to 15 Watts (the resistors) and will ensure the crossover point doesn't shift (the extra capacitor)

Is there any any alternative solution?

Damn I really regret that I didn't go with Component speaker. Now the dilemma now is that if I replace them with aftermarket tweeters, I worry there will be too much high, and I won't be able to control the tweeters and coaxial 6.5" individually. I know the tweeter will help the sound stage forward, but will they also make the stage UPWARD due to their mounting location is much closer to our ear level.

I guess it's more a staging problem. It'll be great if anyone knows. Thanks in advance.

Which Infinity speakers do you have? Do they have a seperate crossover?

I am using Kappa 6 3/4" coaxial and yes they do have seperate crossover.

    What about them?

Well, I don't think there's any point trying to wire up the stock tweeters. If you give them full power you'll blow them, and if you put resistors in series with them you probably won't hear them much. Why don't you try using just the Infinitys. If you do find that the highs aren't really there, then you could always buy a set of Infinity tweeters and run the high frequency output from the crossover to the new tweeters instead.

Or you could try exchanging the ones you have for components.
