    New head unit...

Yo, i need a new head unit so that i can get my system hooked up. I've looked around a little, but can't really find anything that i like. You guys give me some suggestions. I'm hoping to spend under $300, and i want something that looks good.

that pioneer is pretty nice.. what about the Alpine 9813 though.. less expensive and better in my opinion.. also check out this jvc, my last headunit was a jvc similar to this.. http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027017&page=2
its not real pretty but you can find them on ebay for abou 250, they are very good sounding and the eq is pretty easy to use. . Or you could get the alpine 9815 like i did for about 350 after shipping.. the 9813 is the same thing though pretty much only with green illumination and only has a 1 line lcd instead of 2, and you can download some equalizing info off a cd (i've never done that yet). The alpines have built in crossovers and equalizers, as well as time correction to make up for the length differences between the user and the speakers.. all this makes for a bit complicated setup with amps and everything.. so prepare to spend a lot of time messing with settings before you get it sounding good.. i had to do a lot of tweaking..

woofy: thanks for the helpful info. I took a quick glance at that JVC, but its late, so i'll have to look a little better after class tomorrow.

Psy: Thanks. If i do decide to go with this one, that will most likely be the place that i get it. I would do the flea market thing, but i dunno...something just doesn't seem right to me about all that.

I used price match and employee discount and got pioneer head unit that was 265$ for 120$. I would go to epinions.com find a head unit from a same state competitor of a main store and print it and take it in to a major store to see if you can get a good price match.
