and have used it for a couple days... Ive noticed its hard for me to set the settings so that there isnt distortion. There was no distortion on the original deck... though on this there is lots of distortion compared to it. Do i need new speakers?

The stock speakers are not made to handle the power of an aftermarket head unit. I would suggest you getting new speakers.

Guess it depends how loud you turn it up. The stock speakers should be OK for the same volumn as before. If you are turning it up loader now then you can expect distortion. The stock speakers won't handle the full power of your new HU. After I put in my 7600 using the stock speakers I didn't hear any problem with distortion. But I don't crank it up really loud either. Is the distortion from the front, back or both? There are a lot of settings on the 7600. Maybe something is way off?

yea i assume something is way off because i dont crank it up.. if anything its just as loud as the stock headunit. for example, when i listen to a song with the stock headunit and then i listen to the same song with the new one, there is distortion. particularly from the bass. it sounds different then it did before... maybe u can tell me your settings.. ? hehe

no matter what you are putting more wattage to your stock speakers with your new head unit. when you buy a new head unit you need to buy speakers and an amp is always recommended for a clean sounding setup. Try lowering your bass and raising your treble on your setup now, but your stock speakers can not handle your new head unit...
