    Optima batteries

Alright I just got a 1000watt kenwood sub and 2 10" subs and it's making my lights dim pretty bad at night. Soo I'm thinking of getting an optima battery but i don't know which one i should get. The red top or the yellow top? Any help I'm trying to go get one tomorrow from pep boys or something..

if ur gonna be using that battery as a starter battery also, go with the optima redtops... the deep cycle will die quickly.Deep cycle only if u are gonna use it as an accessory batt with a secondary charging system.

Yea thats what I thought too. Red top is the one that you should use because it made like a reg. battery and is able to be charged over and over without damaging it. While the yellow top is made for someone who is going to use the system while the car is off, like a car show or something. The yellow top is made to be drained out completly than charnged again. While the red top is made to be charged when ever you drive your car.

I'm just going by Optima's website. Red top is apparently not warranteed in cars with big audio systems - they recommend yellow top. Here's the link:

If the problem is lights dimming when the bass hits, a capacitor won't do much, if anything. These are the biggest waste of money in car audio. A battery won't help that much either. The best solution is a high output alternator.
