    power locks

I have a CE with no power locks and it's a bit annoying having to ask everyone to lock their doors when they leave the car.

How hard would it be to get the factory power locks setup retrofitted into my car? Should I be able to just order the parts and put it in (or get it put in) or is it too complicated?

I use to have the same problem too (I have a CE) so I went back to the dealer and have powerlock and alarm installed to it and it cost me 600 bucks that time. It took them an hour or 2 just to install it. After that I love it. I know its a bit pricy but its worth it in a lot of ways.

I would not recommend doing it yourself unless you know what you're doing...the safest way to would be toyota but it may put a good dent on you pocket so just shop around in different places. I've hear of a few people that have done this before.

Hey ambalong, did it come with the keyless entry system? Im guessing it dose since you have the alarm with it too.

600 dosnt really seem that bad actually. Especially if you get keyless entry with it. To get power locks, an alarm, and keyless entry system, plus install, 600 dosnt sound that bad at all. I might actually do it too if my dealer could do it for that cost.

I would mostly do it for the alarm and the keyless entry, but to get keyless entry you need power locks, so... Having un power locks isnt all that bad, unless you haul people in your car alot and you always gota remind them to lock the doors. And then they always argue with me, "What, why do you lock your doors in this small town?" (true its a small town and crime is low) But when you got 350 other kids in your high school that have nothing else to do in the town except jack arround with other peoples stuff, then you kinda want to lock your doors. Plus when you have your entire CD collection and many miscelaneous things sitting arround in the back seat, its pretty stupid to not lock the doors, dont you think?

Ok sorry for rambeling, but i gues im just saying the only time i would use my power door locks (besides the keyless entry) is to lock the doors when im getting out of the car and and theres a bunch of people with me so i dont have to ask them to lock the doors.

Damn... You lucked out. My dealer said they wouldn't do it.

I wonder if I could get some third party shop to get the OEM parts and do the install... or maybe find another dealership that will do it. Where are you located, anyway?

(I wonder if this thread belongs in the audio/security forum instead)
