    Sex Education in the Classroom

So, I was over hearing a conversation (ok..i was being nosey) and the topic of Sex Ed came up and how they're teaching some of it it as early as 4th grade. Granted kids now a days are having sex at even earlier ages...but do you think 4th grade is a little too early? Are you against Sex Ed to young kids? Are you against it period?! Or are you for it but think its too early or do you think 4th grade is just fine?

Between NJ and VA, I don't know which place is worse. Each time I go to NJ I see young kids pushing strollers and now its happening even more in VA! It just amazes me that kids don't think about things!!!

I know of a 14yr old girl who was with a guy and they had sex. One time, they decided to do it unprotected and she got pregnant. now guess what...the guy left and the girl had the baby. whats even crazier is that she got pregnant 3 months after her mother did. so now aunt and neice are only 3 months apart.

The earlier the better. Combine that with education at home.

Now a days, alot of parents do not speak to their kids about stuff like this. School can only teach and "scare" kids so much. But even if parents spoke to their kids about sex, peer pressure is a bitch.

I don't think it's too early because at this age is when kids learn everything quicker and better and like E said it also has to do a lot with the education given at home, a lot of parents run away from the idea of it but it's something they'll have to face sooner or later

By the 4th grade most kids know about sex. Hell I knew the birds and the bees in the 3rd grade. I think that they should teach you sex ed everyyear to raise awareness. And 4th grade is not too early, someone on my bus in elementry school found a condom in the back of the bus. Mind you I was in the 4th grade at the time. Sex is in the media and kids already know about it. Might as well teach them what and what not to do.

we had sex ed in the 5th grade, 8th grade, and 9th grade out here in las vegas. what they need to do is not "scare" kids like someone mentioned prior, but to educate children about the responsibilities that come with child bearing and parent hood. not only that but i seriously think that school should consist of 5 8 hour days a week just like a typical work day. summers off should still be given, as kids really are kids... but they should be more prepared for the real world that lies ahead. if they understood at an early age all of the sacrifices they would have to make then i think most kids would think twice. parents are also THE key factor. period.

ROTFL:D That is exactly what my 4 year old boy tells his classmates (daycare). One of the best lines from the movie "Kindergarten Cop".

highschool i suppose would be best. seeing as how most kids start working when in highschool ( i did ). and if a kid has a job part of his school day should be supplemented with his few hours of work so that it all evens out. just ideas of course, i can put more thought into it but i know that nobody wants to listen to my ideas haha.
