HEY GUYS, i bought a momo shift nobe that is for anycar it has 3 screws that screw into the shift bar, so i figured just shorten the bar and have an instant short shifter! i cut off about 2 inches and OMG it feels and look so much better! i shift w/ my wrists not my arm, it is so much faster and less tiresum. the throws are very short and shifting is is fun i feel like im in some super hi performace car  . i recomend it

I also did this to my car. I had it 2 days and I was out there with a hacksaw. It takes a little bit of time and its VERY hard to cut straight. I got it though. I think if you measure from the top of the piece I cut off includoing the thread I took abotu 2.5" off. It does feel better. Its not a true short shifter, and as soon as I get my hands on a welder I am going to do that next.

I also have a tap and die set, I was going to use the die to make some threads on the top of the cut off peice so I could screw the stock shifter lever back in if I needed too. The first time I took it to toyota they asked if I had put an aftermarket shifter in coz the "liked how it feels". I just smiled and said it had been modified. They dpont need to know exactly what I did.

I just like being able to get in all my compartments in the center dash without having the shifter in the way. But I dont think it made my shifts any faster. Thats the problem with a cable link instead of the solid bar like older cars had. the cable will flex a bit when you try to power shift, so you still need to be a little slow with it.

    OR

stop "granny shifting not double clutching like you should"

    ok gtg

yeah i hear ya...i want to cut it but im not sure if its worth it, the reason i want a shorter one would be to have faster shifts but you said it didnt help out on being faster.....double shifting doesnt help much with newer cars.

on a posative note the actual distance you need to move the shifter for each shift is lowered. So in a sense you are creating more energy for the drive which will allow you to go longer. I guess.

But you can always do it just coz it looks cool.

is there any aftermaketing short shifter kit available?

Cutting the rod won't make shifting faster...

not yet. You can cut the rod and weld it to the bottom to create a true short shifter. You are ight cutting the top off doesnt effect anything. It just looks better.

This kind of mod will void my tranny warranty, right?
