stock head unit with amps and subs

here is my plan for now, eventually i will do an overhaul of all the speakers and wiring.

i plan on keeping the stock headunit and using a Profile California Series CA600, 150W x 2 @ 4ohm, with two JL 10W0. is this going to burn out the stock headunit? Crutchfield's description of this amp is that is perfect to do this job i have just described. and i have the 6 speaker stock system if it matters.

    imo it will be ok
use the amp u have for the subs only note: amp should have high input for audio

but if u want more crisp sound.... get seperates for the front = mid and tweets and run it with
a decent amp even low power, use a quality one=)

this way u can use the head unit to power only the back spkr if ur not planning on taking em off hehe....

just my 2 cents, always best to not use the head unit as a power source for speakers directly especially for long continues high output hehe imo

    great choice

well u asked the right guy because i have the same set up you want to do

i have the profile ca 600 and it should be good for pushing two subs
when u bidge them it should be fine
the high low inputs works pretty good
it will not burn out the head unit because it is technically not connected to it

    BUT!!

there is a slight problem, you will get engine noise and you might need a noise filter
but if you are putting in subs you might not hear the noise
but if u want to put in mid ranges you will definetly get noise

what i have in my trunk is two 6x9 dbx polk three ways that give me a buzzing noise. i have to get a noise filter for it but when you pump up the volume you dont hear it. it only happens when the engine is on.

so i have seven speakers that sound pretty good
i had the hook ups you want but you wont get the highs that you might need for your liking

Profile is a good amp and it shouldnt give you any problems if you have the correct subs on it.

well good luck and contact me if you have questions.

just make sure ur install is set up like---- any audio source is seperated from power source.... your hu should not create any engine noise...

head unit stock straight to components in front should not create noise if it does. check for ground

keep the stock spkr for the back/ if u want just yank it off since u have the sub

use the amp only for low pass for ur sub in the trunk

to make sure no engine noise in spkrs=========
** make sure u power ur amp w/ atleast 8 gauge to the min. and fuse it w/in 18 in from
the positive terminal of ur battery.....///. ground your amp as short of wire as possible
    just my 2 cents =)

    power wire

i have a 4 gauge and i am running it along the driver side.

i really dont know what to do because i checked everything even the grounding
but if it was the grounding then the amp would not play.

but it is a common problem you can even get engine noise if you have a new head unit.

try ur best not to exceed 18 inches in connecting ground..to the car metal (-)shorte ground the better..
also the thd rating of the amp that's all i know so far lucky me

if that u did then i must have been just lucky in my install.... btw i always use rockford amps old school and new cheap but ok as in real watts rms imo

but damn those rockford speaker i always blow them.... i use JL Audio subs hehehe
i save on the amp spend it on the sub
    .
lol can't wait to get started on my new corolla i hope i don't come accross the same problem u have... that will be a pain

i did so many kind of cheapo installs in my life and i hope this one won't fail me lol

    Re: power wire

Try disconnecting the factory harness ground from the head unit and connect a 10 gage wire to the head unit instead. Run that wire back to the same point that the amps are grounded at. That may just take care of it. Worked for me.

another important thing i'm not sure anyone mentioned is to run the power cable on the opposite side of the car as or signal cable you have.. Also, one time i had a problem with engine noise and when playing with my amp i turned the gain down (it was up too high to begin with) and it fixed the problem, i dont hear it anymore and my stereo still gets about as loud as it needs to at around 3/4 volume.

yeah like run the power on tthe driver side and the rca's on the other side

putting them next to each other you could her the engine noise like a squealing when ever you have it on so try to keep them far apart

good thinking i forgot about that subwoofy

also if you want to control weather the amp and subs are on or not real easily you can run your power on wire from the amp to the rear tail lights that way you can turn it on/off w/ the light switch so you dont have to mount another one (if you ever wanted to do that(
