Suggestions for stock audio system to sound better?

    Hello everyone,

I have a CE with 4 speaker stock sound system and I would like to make it sound better. Im not into that kind of a sound system where you can hear the next car's music even with its windows are closed. All I want is just like a clear home theather sorround sound system if possible.

Any suggestions for a good but not too expensive head unit, speakers and tweeters would greatly be appreciated. :D

just a head unit would make a big difference.

maybe even ordering some factory sweeters from the dealership to give you the stock 6 spkr setup found in the LE (kinda pricey though, not sure how much?)

the stock speakers sound pretty damn good (for stock) once you replace the head unit. That's the only thing that I've done to my car since I've got it (and yes, cars next to me *can* hear the....17.5Wx4 pumpin! :p) and it sounds pretty good. You may or may not want to get a sub in there, too. Personally, I'm really finding that it's lacking a lot (not when it's loud, even when it's at a "reasonable volume) in the low end and a sub is my next planned upgrade; with new speakers all the way around being after that.

I bought one of these for myself...which is admittedly far more than I needed or even wanted (I didn't need or want a motorized display or wma/mp3 playback....just a good quality deck with AUX-In)... Not too expensive from what I've seen - as I easily would've bought a Nakamichi deck ($500+?) if I had the money.

Dont waste your money on buying stock speakers or tweeters from the dealer. No matter how good you think it may sound aftermarket component speakers will sound a million times better than the stock one and for maybe even cheaper.

It dont have to be some really expensive componets just some alipine type R comps. you can pick them up at ebay for about $120 shipped brand new. Dont forget to amp your system, that is the most imporant thing. And a new HU will help also.

Great inputs guys. At least now I have an idea where to go and what to do. I guess the next step will depend on my budget. Thanks again guys.
