Rolling the fenders is exactly what you described it as: folding the metal up to make more room for the wider tires. They sell a fender rolling tool to make things easier. You can also rent one. I'm not so sure you want to cut the sheet metal. It might reduce the rigidity of the fender and the sharp edges could damage the tire.

its been almost 7 years since ive had my prizm . an old guy helped me cut the springs and re install them. if my memory is right , when the old man pulled the struts off the car ; he removed the 3 nut on the strut tower after removing the two nuts and bolts in the spindle and the 1 nut holding the brake line.
it wasnt until after he got the strut off , that he used the compressor to pull the mount off.

so, if im just changing struts , that come with the mounts already on them , theres no need for a spring compressor ? im pretty sure this is right , but hell it sucks gettin old , CRS!

any insight would be appriciated , hell just a nod of "yep" for confidence that my memory hasnt failed me . my package will be here tomarrow.

also i seen on a post somewhere , about having to roll your fenders w/ 17's ? i just got my enkei j-10's today! it looks rediculously high right now , and wanna bring it back down low as possible. the spring strut combo lower 1.5 " front and back , and rarely have anybody or anything heavy in my trunk at all. i mean no rear passengers of course. is just as simple as cutting the inner lip w/ slits and folding the sheetmetal up ? im good with sheet metal , its in my trade , but is it that simple?
