    torque converter

If I dropped a torque converter in my car, would my off the line acceleration increase sufficiantly? just wondering, because im trying to figure out the whole torque ratio thing and how it affects the speeds of cars.

You already have a torque converter in the car now... what you can do is have it modified (Level 10 is one who does it) ... that will raise your stall rate allowing you to torque brake when launching (similar to what manuals do when they rev to 3 or 4k rpms and release the clutch).. It will also increase acceleration slightly...

The job usually runs about $500 and then you have the labor to take it out and put the new one in... and you have you downtime while the work is done, unless you have a spare torque converter.

a few people i know have bought a used torque converter, gotten the work done on THAT, then had them swapped out...and sold off their original one to someone who's looking to do the same thing to theirs. saves downtime significantly.

yeah i guess it should be in the engine/transmission section, sorry about that. Falnfenix, do you mean that someone could just work on my torque converter and tune it up better? do you all think I should get an already modified one or would it be just the same working on my existing?
