For the first time ever, Toyota sold more vehicles globally in a quarter than General Motors, preliminary January-March figures show, the clearest sign yet that the Japanese company is on track to overtake its U.S. rival as the world's top automaker.

I applaud Toyota. Apparently Toyota is using American labor to assemble cars whereas GM is outsourcing to Mexico and other countries. Most domestic cars aren't even made in America anymore. I consider Toyota's to be more American cars now. I know my Corolla came off the assembly line in Fresno, CA. I also appreciate the fact that Toyota(and other companies such as Honda and Ford) are delving into the 'green' making hybrid cars or hydrogen fuel cell cars. It seems to me that GM is moving backwards or not forward enough(i.e. Hummer). I'd be daring enough to say that if GM were to disappear, I would not be saddened.

Well over here Toyota owns shares of Suzuki and owns Daihatsu over here in japan. Over here they make a killing for selling small cars.
