What do other countries think of america?

and don't say you give a shit becuase other countries is what keeps this country still running.

I was talking to an ausie about the rb30, and he brought up a question about our crime. He asked "is there shootings everywhere in america?, is it even safe to walk outside at night?"

I told him in some areas. The only reason we have shootings and violence in this country really is becuase everyone is concerned about race.

In aus its the complete oppsite. Shootings are rare. They call arabs lops.... what the hell is a lop.

well... same as Taiwan, since its a small country and it is illegal to buy/own guns, there are rarely any shootings in Taiwan. i'm guessing only about 15 to 20 shooting that make it to the news per year. which is very small amount compare to just Bay Area alone.

I have a few negative generalizations about the US (I'm in Canada); but that's about it.
I think i'm pretty typical of Canadians in that regard.

to be completely honest i think this thread is a really bad idea. when you start talking about people's countries and stuff, and others step on someone's toes it's a bad thing. so maybe if a moderator sees this they'll put a stop to it before anyone get's pissed or some words are exchanged.

welll.... I spent a few weeks backpacking through western europe five or eight years ago. most everyone i ran across at the youth hostels i slept at wore flags of their country of origin on their packs. the exception were the americans like myself. no flag showing. we found life was far easier when not advertising we were americans. in fact one guy i talked to profesed to be canidian, for the better approval.

probably right. on HTT we have a seperate forum area for "political" discussion. keeps it out of the common areas. you need to email the moderator of the area to get the password to access the political area.

that's precisely why I didn't bother to mention any of those stereotypes that I tend to have (that said, my girlfriend is American, and I may be moving south of the border, so I gotta learn to keep quiet :p)

My aunt and uncle went to, I think it was Australia, and went to a couple of places who treated them like shit when they heard their voices; but as soon as they said they were from Canada they were totally different
it was more than slightly amusing.
