good combo... If I were you though.... to get the most out of that amp, I would get the dual 2ohm alpine subs instead of the dual 4 ohm that you linked to.... If you have 2 of those subs in dual 4 ohm, you can only wire them to run at 1ohm or 4ohm..... If you get the dual 2ohm subs, then you can run both together at 2 ohm... that amp pushes out 657 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms and 456 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms.

well each sub has an RMS of 300watts...if i if i did the 2ohms thing, id be pushing over that... unless i missed something LOL

Not sure what you're trying to say, but you should get two speakers with dual 2 ohm voice coils. Whatever you're using to justify it is wrong. You'll have an extra 57 watts of headroom with this setup and that is perfectly fine.

    657 watts at 2ohms.

that is 328watts RMS per sub...

    sub only rated for 300RMS....

    am i wrong?

theg 4 ohm subs would be fine because u could wire them in parallel to a 2 ohm load.

either way would be fine... if you over power the subs by a little, it really does not matter... regardless if they are underpowerd or overpowered, if you are not carefull with any sub/amp setup ie: too much bass causing distortion or too loud, you still could fry your subs... Only reason why I was recommending the 2 ohm setup is becuase you'll use the full potential of that amp.. You can always adjust levels once you everything hooked up... Just a thought!

With that one amp and two of those subs you'll have to wire it to a combined 4 ohm load since your sub isn't one ohm stable. (each speaker running at 2 ohm) which is 456 RMS total or 228RMS per sub. In order to get the 2ohm load you need to get two dual 2 ohm subs.

I don't understand what you guys are agreeing on, but you're starting to confuse me. You can't wire up two dual 4ohm speakers into a single 2 ohm load. It's impossible.

You can wire them that way, but you would only be using one voice coil from each sub which woould defeat the purpose of having a dual VC sub. It is usually better to overpower a sub slightly and adjust your gains down than it is to underpower them and have the gain turned up where you get more distortion. What is the THD on it anyway?. You are right BTW Jae.

Jae, we aren't talking about wiring up the 4 ohm with a 2 ohm load......we are talking about either i should wire up two 4ohm, for a 4ohm load, or two 2ohm for a 2ohm load....

These are your options that make sense:

    DUAL 4 OHM VOICE COILS:
Each speaker can either be 2 OHM or 8 OHM
Now with them together running off the same power supply with a single channel you get:
Combined load on amp: 1 OHM, 4 OHM, 16 OHM

Your amp is not 1 ohm compatible. At 4 ohm it can power the speakers, but not fully. They make a DVC 2ohm version of that speaker I believe, so what's the debate here? The amp can power the speaker you want to it's full potention, yet you're choosing not to for a reason I'm confused about.

lol, i'm actually going to go with the 2OHM, i'll just adjust the gain a bit, thanks for the info Jae
