What do you think of this setup ?

    Hi there,

I'm about to install a new radio to change the poor stock one we have.

Here's what I plan to install, suggestions are WELCOME :)

    Rear speakers : Pioneer 6x9 - 2-Way Speaker with Compression Horn : http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pioneer/CDA/CarProducts/CarProductDetails/0,1429,43,00.html

    Front speakers : Infinity Component system - 605cs (6½) : http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.asp?ProdId='REF605CS'&Ser=REF&Cat=COS

Head Unit : AIWA CDC-Mp3 (I plan to change it within a year) : http://www.mmxpress.com/aiwa/cdcmp3.htm

Amp : That's the question!! -- I already have an amp (Kenwood / 250W / 2 channel) and I'm wondering if I should get a 4 channel one. In my previous car the amp was wired only to the rear speaker and it was playing really well. But the my new 'rolla is a larger car so I was wondering what should I do??!!! Use my 2 channel amp and the HU output for the front 6½ or buy a 4 channel one and wired all speakers to it. I've a limited budget for this operation so I'm seeking the best price/performance ratio... Please help, I've got all the parts in my garage and I'm wainting your advice before installing everything...

    Thanx, W~

yeah you should get 4 channel for 4 speakers since you have pretty good speakers in the front. i was wondering you not gonna get subs? if you not gonna get subs, you better change pioneer speakers to better ones. pioneer speakers is not that great. i have also pioneer in the back, but i have 2 12" subs so it doesnt really matter.

The power of my Aiwa HU is 4x45 W

I won't get sub for the moment because I want to keep my truck empty. I knew that Pioneer speakers aren't super good but I paid $60 for them. I prefer to put the rest of my budget in a good 4-channel amp instead and change them someday.

I can wait to install eveything!!!!

ok, but about the head unit, how many output? im not talking about power output. and does that head unit have a preamp output? this is really really important when you want quality sound as well as if you want to expand your system later. No matter how great the speaker, subs, or amp, you can never get good sound unless you have a good head unit.

Although it seems like a good idea.. you should never run speakers off the head unit.. you spend all this money on new speakers then they sound muddy on the HU's crappy wattage.... get a good amp and you will not be disappointed

im not saying that you should just power your speaker with your head unit. but im saying the better you have preamp output voltage the cleaner it is even with external amps. so, if you can get good head unit, you dont really have to change them later. otherwise, when you want to exapand them, you gonna lose your money since you have to change the whole thing. if your Aiwa's unit costs 200 cuts, you should spend 50 more and you can get like panasonic 802 u. i think this shit is really great for the price. it has 5v preamp output, which has more voltage and most of pioneer or alpine shit. and of course, this panasonic shit has 3 outputs for front, rear, and subs. But if you have money, you can get Eclipse shit. is is so unbelievable, and it has 8/16volt.
